After watching the California’s Gold episode from about the mid 2000’s when Huel visited Frank Sinatra’s home in Palm Springs for the third or fourth time since the first time I saw it, for the first time, I paid more attention near the end of the show when Huel recommended listening to 98.5 KWXY Palm Springs. He mentioned how the station played classic, Palm Springs style music from the old days. Well, I tuned in 14/15 years too late apparently. The stations owner’s goodbye on air was rather sad, saying that after 65 years of going through the doors of one radio station or another, he wouldn’t know what to do tomorrow. I wonder how he got along, as I imagine he’s been gone from this life for some time based on how much time has passed since that goodbye.
